  • Cat foods - reference chart

There is a website that gives a printable chart for canned cat foods and another one that lists the dry cat foods. The one for canned food:

    http://webpages.charter.net/katkarma/canfood.htm

The one for dry foods is:

    http://webpages.charter.net/katkarma/dryfood.htm

Anyone who is concerned about protein content or phosphorus content these two charts are wonderful and will help when making a decision on what to try for kitties that are to be on special diets. As we all know some kitties just don't like to eat the veterinary diets but with some research at least you can figure out which of the foods available would be better than others.

I realized that I hadn't made it a sticky so just did that. That way people will be able to always find it. Because my niche for pet sitting is pets with medical issues I've tried to collect a number of valuable websites to point people to. Sometimes when you find out that your pet has something serious you're overwhelmed and don't know where to get answers. It's nice to have done the research and be able to give people a list of resources available to them.

I had occasion to check out the food evaluation link, and the ones from Marci came up 404, meaning not accessed. And Dr. Gus's one I am modifying slightly, to give a more direct link:

The best site is http://www.felinecrf.org/ and there's a section regarding foods in a chart from lowest in phosphorus to highest. Covers the prescription diets as well as non-prescription diets.
