Scripps Institution of Oceanography to Honor Nature Filmmaker

858/534-3624; scrippsnews@ucsd.edu April 12, 2005 Scripps Institution of Oceanography to Honor Nature Filmmaker Sir David Attenborough Special presentation to be held at Birch Aquarium at Scripps Scripps Institution of Oceanography's fifth annual Nierenberg Prize for Science in the Public Interest will be awarded to celebrated nature filmmaker Sir David Attenborough at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps, June 5. Attenborough has been making acclaimed nature programs, such as Life on Earth and Trials of Life, for BBC television for more than 50 years. Nierenberg Prize Award Ceremony and Free Public Presentation Sunday, June 5, 1 p.m. Birch Aquarium at Scripps Scripps Institution of Oceanography will present celebrated BBC nature filmmaker Sir David Attenborough with the 2005 Nierenberg Prize for Science in the Public Interest during a ceremony at the Birch Aquarium. The brief award ceremony will be followed by a free public presentation from Attenborough, which will include clips from his outstanding nature films. Admission to the presentation is free; Birch Aquarium admission is NOT included. Reservations are not necessary, but seating and parking are limited.
