I am not a vet, but a pet's teeth is something a vet always checks. Cats in particular are subject to feline absorption, where the body attacks its own teeth, absorbing them which is very painful for the cat and requires extraction. And dogs are often given things to chew on to reduce tartar formation. Unfortunately, pet dental costs can be as expensive as people dental costs.

A vet once gave me a kitty tooth brush and liver flavoured tooth paste. I tried to brush the cats teeth but after my blood transfusion I decided to leave it to the vet to do an annual cleaning.

Of course you need to worry about their teeth especially when you buy them dog food that can be very harmful for their dental tissue. Now, I will never buy dog food because I don't trust in nowadays companies, they want to make more products for lower prices, but the quality is just zero. Moreover, I have 2 alabays and they eat more then my family together. So I make for them a big pan of porridge and also I give them 2 deer antlers for dogs. Antlers contains a lot of useful minerals for their teeth and also it is very good for their health.
